Blackbaud incident

Children’s Hospital Foundation (CHF) is proud of the trust and support that our friends and supporters show us and our partners at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU. CHF is committed to transparency, honesty, and the protection of the personal data that we maintain.

On July 16, 2020, our third-party vendor, Blackbaud, informed us that, in May 2020, Blackbaud discovered a cyber incident that resulted in potential unauthorized access to certain information maintained by Blackbaud. Blackbaud is a provider of customer relationship management and financial management software for many independent schools, universities, and non-profit organizations. Unfortunately, Blackbaud’s cyber incident impacted a significant number of these organizations, including CHF.

The type of information in the CHF system identified by Blackbaud as having been potentially compromised includes demographic data and contact information that is available in the public domain. The compromised system did not contain any private information such as credit card information, bank account information, private health information, or Social Security numbers.

We offer this update in the spirit of transparency and regret any worry or other inconvenience the Blackbaud cyber incident might have caused. For any further questions or concerns, please visit Blackbaud’s notice, available at www.blackbaud.com/securityincident, or contact us at privacy@chfrichmond.org or (804) 228-5826.
