Arthur Ashe Books 4 Kids

The mission of the Arthur Ashe Books 4 Kids program is to promote childhood literacy. Children of all ages, seen in Children's Pavilion, will be provided with appropriate books by trained adult volunteers.

Sponsored by the VCU Medical Center Auxiliary and staffed by volunteer "Book Buddies," mobile book carts are located on the 3rd and 4th floor clinics. One on one interactions help children from newborn to teens pick age appropriate books to keep. Book Buddies encourage parents to read with their children while waiting in the clinic and at home. A partnership with the Richmond City Public Library provides a special Arthur Ashe Books 4 Kids library cares to encourage continued reading.

You can support this program by purchasing new books from the wish list. Please contact Arthur Ashe Books 4 Kids co-chairs Pete Weismuller (peterweis@aol.com) or Sue Patow (suepatow@gmail.com) to make arrangements for delivery to the Children's Pavilion.
