Dear Friends:
This July, Children’s Hospital Foundation (CHF) celebrated its second year of operation as an independent foundation. Established in 1978 to support the original Children’s Hospital, CHF now provides support for our primary focus, the programs and initiatives of Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU (CHoR).
We believe that all children deserve the best health care possible, and that theme drives our efforts each day. During the 2012 fiscal year—from July 1, 2011 to June 30, 2012—CHF supported a variety of funding requests from CHoR, including the development of new programs like the Comprehensive Pediatric Obesity Treatment Center, the recruitment of a new pediatric surgeon and the construction of the Pediatric Perioperative Center.
Each story in this annual report is intended to help you understand what our patients and families have accomplished and what their dreams are for the future. Families who come to our hospital expect that their children will be treated with the kind of care that only a children’s hospital can provide. That means pediatric trained specialists, programs focused on the special needs of pediatric patients and facilities that are designed to accommodate children and their families.
We hope you will be pleased with the progress described in this annual report. We thank those of you who have supported us in the past, and we welcome those who may want to become involved for the first time. It will truly take all of us working together to provide for the health care needs of the children of our community.
Sincerely,
Eleanor M. Goode
