During the last year, Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU provided care for more than 50,000 children, and Children’s Hospital Foundation supported the hospital’s efforts with $3,491,000 in gifts, thanks to the thousands of people in our community who made donations and volunteered their time.

Endowed position honors former board member
Children’s Hospital Foundation and Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU (CHoR) have established a $1 million endowed chair in memory of Roderick Bell Mathews, a long-time friend of Children’s Hospital who served on the Board of Directors of the Foundation and the Board of Trustees of the original Crippled Children’s Hospital for many years. The Roderick Bell Mathews Endowed Chair is established as a permanent endowment fund to support a pediatric physician in gastroenterology at CHoR.

Pledges for a Healthier Future
Children’s Hospital Foundation’s Board of Directors has pledged the following amounts to Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU:

  • $1,725,000 to the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery
  • $455,000 to establish the Comprehensive Pediatric Obesity Treatment Center
  • $326,000 to the Department of Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose and Throat)
