Updated May 13, 2021. Please note that this content is accurate as of the update date.

VCU Health is now vaccinating all patients age 12 and up who live in Virginia. You are considered a patient if you have received care at one of our hospitals or clinics over the past three years.  Our goal is to vaccinate as many patients as we can — to protect your health as well as that of the community.

We encourage patients 18 and older who are interesting in receiving the vaccine to call us to make an appointment. You can reach our vaccination scheduling line at (804) 628-0223, Wednesday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Only existing patients can make an appointment.

Pediatric patients ages 12-18 and their parents/caregivers can receive the COVID-19 vaccine at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU (CHoR). Children under the age 16 are not yet eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Please see “Kids and the COVID vaccine: What should a parent know?”

We have resumed offering the Johnson & Johnson (J&J) vaccine to our patients, following the decision by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to reinstate use of the vaccine. We plan to first offer this vaccine to inpatients 18 and older who are slated for discharge, as well as patients 18 and older admitted to any of our emergency departments.

For our outpatients, we are using all three vaccines — Pfizer, Moderna and J&J. You cannot choose your vaccine. We will tell you which vaccine you’ll receive when we schedule your appointment. Each vaccine is safe and effective.

Immuno-compromised patients may need to follow a different vaccine protocol. Please consult your doctor for more information.

It is our mission to serve all sectors of the community.

It is our mission to serve all Virginians. This includes a deep commitment to protecting our most vulnerable community members.

Community members can add their names to a list for one of our vaccination events at the VCU Health Hub at 25th.

  • Contact our community vaccination clinic at the VCU Health Hub at 25th by phone at (804) 827-2535 or by email at covid19vaccineinfo@vcuhealth.org to sign up. You will be contacted when an appointment becomes available in the order you were added to the wait list.

Registration options

Your pharmacy or local health district may be able to vaccinate you sooner than we can. Please visit vaccinate.virginia.gov or vaccines.gov to sign up. Take the first appointment offered — whether it’s through VCU Health, our community vaccination clinic or the state registration system.
