Battle of the Badges Raises $3,850

Local police departments hit it out of the park for kids during the third annual Battle of the Badges softball tournament

Back for another year, the Battle of the Badges softball tournament brought together eight local police departments for a single elimination style softball tournament. Community members attended the event to cheer on their local law enforcement officers and raise funds for Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU (CHoR). Through team entry fee and attendee donations, police officers raised $3,850.77 in support of CHoR.

Fifteen-person teams from Chesterfield County Police, Colonial Heights Police, Hanover County Sheriffs Office, Henrico County Police, Hopewell Police, Richmond Police, Virginia Commonwealth University Police and Virginia State Police participated in the tournament, After a long day of play, Hanover County Sheriff's Office took home the prize, winning in extra innings against the Virginia State Police.
